Bitterspirituosen / Absinthe

Right from the start, our founder, Friedrich Fischer, took a deep interest in medicinal herbs and the knowledge of Hildegard von Bingen. Following his passion, at the turn of the century he created the unique Boonekamp, with absolutely no added sugar. 38 herbs & roots that aid digestion and generally promote wellbeing were seasoned with licorice shavings and green walnuts. In 1904, Friedrich Fischer was awarded the National Award of the K &K. Ministries for this outstanding bitters creation. In 2007, his grandson, Gerhard Fischer, earned the World Spirits Award for Best Bitters with the same recipe. Once you have tried it, despite the bitter taste, no good meal is complete without a sip of Pater Noster – Boonekamp afterwards.

This fine distillate is produced according to long tradition and historical examples of original, French, anis containing absinthe. Following double- distillation (only the “heart” of the distillate is used!) and double maceration, Mephisto Absinthe is coloured exclusively with natural herbs (e.g. hyssop, mint, balm, Pontic wormwood).

Produced from ingredients such as wormwood, salvia, peppermint, chamomile, liquorice and much more, Grüne Fee – the green fairy – is every bit as seductive as Mata Hari Absinthe. With only 50% alcohol by volume Grüne Fee also convinces with its non dominant anise taste and produces an enchanting louche effect upon the addition of ice and water.

Coloured exclusively with natural herbs. Mata Hari is the only Absinthe with a non dominant anise taste that produces a “louche effect” (that particularly beautiful milky, opalgreen cloudiness with ice and water).
